The Opposition in astrology

An opposition places two planets on opposite sides of the zodiac, calling for a way to integrate both poles.

When two planets face each other from opposite ends of the chart, each one highlights what the other is missing. An opposition works like a seesaw: lean too far one way, and the other side demands attention.

It is a strongly relational aspect. Often one of the two energies gets projected onto other people. Someone with the Sun opposite Saturn may keep encountering demanding figures before recognizing the high standards they hold for themselves. Relationships become a useful mirror.

Oppositions can feel like swings back and forth, such as stretches of deep commitment followed by a strong pull toward independence. Reading them invites you to find a middle ground that doesn't mean giving up one side but holding both at once. Over time, the ability to see both sides tends to grow into a broad, mature perspective.
